We had a fantastic stay at Copthorne Lakefront! Our room was warm, spacious and comfortable, with a stunning lake view (seriously, it looked like a postcard!), just what we needed for some cosy winter nights in Queenstown. The heater worked perfectly, the bed was comfy, and there was plenty of space to keep our suitcases open without tripping over them. We loved the little dining area with two armchairs and a table: perfect for quick meals or a hot chocolate. Housekeeping came daily (unless declined), and everything was spotless. The staff at reception and the restaurant were friendly, helpful and truly welcoming. If I had to nitpick, I'd say the shower could use a little upgrade: the head was a bit clogged, and the plastic curtain over the bath felt a bit dated. A glass screen would make a big difference. But it looks like renovations are already happening across the hotel, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's already in the plans. All in all, we had a lovely experience and would happily stay again. Great value, great service, and absolutely breathtaking views! ♥

My room was huge, bed was really comfy and facilities were great. Awesome location, very short stroll into town, brilliant views of the lake. Vipul and all the staff at reception were incredibly helpful.

Disappointing Stay – Not Up to 4-Star Standard I recently stayed at the Copthorne Hotel and Resort in Queenstown and, unfortunately, found the experience underwhelming. While the location is undeniably beautiful, the hotel itself doesn’t live up to the 4-star rating it claims. At best, I’d consider it a 3-star stay in its current condition. The facilities are outdated and in need of significant refurbishment. Rooms and shared areas feel tired, and there’s a clear lack of attention to detail throughout. Staff service also left a lot to be desired — basic hospitality training appears to be lacking, with interactions often feeling unpolished and impersonal. Room servicing was consistently poor. Despite being out of the room from 9 or 10am most days, housekeeping didn’t attend until after 3pm. When they did, the service was substandard: towels were left on the toilet seat rather than hung on rails, beds were made carelessly, and floors were not cleaned even when visibly dirty. The spa facilities were another letdown. Use of the spas is by booking only, which is fine in principle, but the spas themselves are housed in a separate building with no view at all — a far cry from what you’d expect in a place as scenic as Queenstown. This lack of atmosphere and outlook really detracts from the enjoyment and gives the impression of a facility that’s functional but far from luxurious. It brings down the overall experience considerably. All in all, this stay didn’t reflect the premium price tag or 4-star promise. With investment in renovations and improved staff training, the hotel could offer a much better experience. But in its current state, I wouldn’t recommend it to travellers expecting comfort, quality, or a sense of luxury.
