I visited the Copthorne Tara Hotel London Kensington for afternoon tea, and overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing experience. The setting was calm and comfortable, tucked away from the busier parts of Kensington. The tea lounge was cozy, with enough space between tables to feel private, yet welcoming. It’s not ultra-modern, but it has a classic charm. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. We were greeted warmly and our server regularly checked in without being intrusive. Everything was brought out on time and explained clearly. The selection included a good balance of sweet and savoury. Finger sandwiches were fresh, especially the smoked salmon and cucumber. Scones were warm and fluffy, served with plenty of clotted cream and jam. Pastries were delightful—mini tarts and chocolate éclairs stood out. Tea selection was generous, with traditional English Breakfast, Earl Grey, and some fruity options. The decor could use a bit of a refresh—it’s a little dated in places. That said, it didn’t take away from the experience, but it’s something to note if you’re expecting modern luxury. For a laid-back, unpretentious afternoon tea in a convenient location.,,😀
Reception service was really good, friendly & responsive. Room was clean & bed comfortable. Location is superb, less than 5 mins walk to Kensington High St & underground. Gym was small but well equipped. Overall, excellent.
Booked this hotel as it was convenient for us on the tube and I used my millennium points. Our twin standard room was fine for 1 night, a bit dated but functional. Asked for a quiet room away from the lift, which we got, but looked out of the window and we were facing the train/tube track! Consequently I had a poor night's sleep due to the late night/early morning trains. It wasn't until I pulled the net curtain back that I noticed the extra double glazed window had been left open! Had this been closed I probably wouldn't have heard the trains as much with my ear plugs in. Wish I had realised this prior to going to bed! We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on what it was like. Very close to High Street Kensington tube line, plenty of shops and cafes in the vicinity. I would stay here again if I needed to, probably pick a better room option and will make sure the sound proofing window is closed! Nice view of the London eye and Shard.
