Cornerstone Motel

I’ve enjoyed many different accommodations along the Cabot Trial but have been most impressed with our recent stay at the Cornerstone Motel! My husband and I were booked for three nights in one of the Queen Suites. Pristine, quiet, scenic, perfectly located within walking distance to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park's Information Center, and seconds from a wide variety of restaurants! A high five to the owners, Cathy and Greg, and their staff for providing amazing accommodations at a very reasonable price.

Absolutely delighted staying at cornerstone motel. Beautiful location, clean rooms and owner themselves are on the reception to check in the guest. Didn’t expect when we booked the motel but 100% satisfied with the motel rooms. Good size room with clean bathroom and had fridge, coffee machine and basic necessity in the room.

Stayed here for the past four nights (June 2025) and loved it. Location is perfect. You can literally see the Welcome to Cape Breton Highlands National Park sign from the rooms. You are only minutes from seeing some of the most iconic spots on the Cabot Trail. The motel is also right on a beautiful river and there are trails in the back of the motel that you are welcome to hike on. In addition to this, there is also a fire pit and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the river and mountains in the distance. As for the room and bathroom, it was clean. Plenty of room to hang and store items which was great as we stayed 4 nights and needed a place to put our hiking gear and other items. As for service, it was top tier. The owner was super kind and made the check in process smooth. I was given maps of the area and some good recommendations. In the morning, the owner has coffee ready to go for guests which is super convenient as the closest gas station is in the opposite direction of the national park. All in all, I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to others. Great owners and great location.
