The stay was quite wonderful! Upon arrival the front desk team, including valet, was super courteous and helpful! One of the best check-in experiences I’ve ever had. Check in was a breeze and we were upgraded to a bay view room! The property is extremely well cared for and beautiful, especially the interior courtyard with natural plants! Experienced Elevator service issues, but the next elevator was just a short walk away, no big deal. The door to room 194 would not close properly and needed to be closed forcefully, we found this out after sleeping with the door unlocked for one night. Service provided by the Restaurant Staff did not match the desk agents, housekeepers or valet. Our server seemed under trained and under informed. When a sharp plastic chunk was found in my ice cream - the manager said “sorry, it’s a chunk of the container lid, we’ll remove the ice cream and drink from your tab.” But did not acknowledge the cut it caused, nor offer any additional remedies. I’m just Glad it was found in my mouth and not my 3-year old daughter for whom the ice cream was ordered for. The location on Coronado is wonderful and the property amenities are great! Some discrepancies with the Towel dispenser, but the front desk easily resolved. Wonderful walking path close by! If the restaurant team can match the level of service provided by the rest of the staff, this would be a 5-star place! Overall, would highly recommend, but do your self a favor and eat off property.
This place will attempt to squeeze every penny out of you if they can. Hidden fees are everywhere and parking is $45/night minimum. The standards clearly don’t match the price as our room was very obviously not completely restocked when we checked in. The walls are paper thin and the water pipes are incredibly loud when a neighbor is showering. The only saving grace is that the location is nice and very walkable. Something that I feel NEEDS to be clarified is that your view from the hotel is mainly directed at the port and industrial areas. Save yourself the hassle and find another place on the other side of the island, much more going on over there (nightlife, beach, restaurants, etc.). The walk from this hotel to the other side of the island is 30-40 min 1 way FYI.
Let's start with the good: 1)Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful 2)The location is solid with really nice views of the city 3)The bed is clean and comfortable Now the cons: 1) this hotel is old. It is very apparent they did a basic remodel at some point it still shows its age. Our tub was old and had multiple chips in it, it is in desperate need of a re-glaze 2)the two temperature choices for the shower are freezing cold or scalding hot, there is no In between 3) parking is offensively pricy. Especially when you can park accross the street for free 4) our door didn't have a proper seal so you can see light under the door and hear everything outside At the end of the day this hotel/resort simply is not a good value. We paid more for this hotel than we would've in surrounding hotels because of the Marriott name, but this just does not live up to it
