Absolutely loved this place. We stayed here for a wedding at Hacienda de San Rafael. The rooms were great, clean, and well kept. The pool was relaxing and refreshing. But best off all was the staff. They were attentive to our every need, they gave us great advice on restaurants in town, and even chilled our wines in their fridge.
If I was able to give 0 stars I would. It is easily the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. No bar, no restaurant no facilities in the rooms ( No fridge, no tea & coffee making facilities) The a/c was so noisy and the bed was so hard we changed rooms for a slightly quieter a/c system but the bed was just as hard. Our original room was one of the most expensive at the hotel so I pity anyone staying in the cheapest! This hotel is about 5 km from the nearest town which is an absolute dump. Nowhere decent to eat. The swimming pool was cold and no pool towels are provided! The towels in the rooms are about 10 years old and it was like trying to dry yourself with coarse sandpaper. Breakfast was a joke. A bit of ham and salami, bread that had looked at toaster, stale looking croissants in bags, plastic cheese and no breakfast tea just herbal tea bags with lukewarm water. The TV is the smallest I have ever seen - we have a bigger one in our caravan! The bath was unsealed and very tired looking and the bathroom was crawling with ants. The other guests we met were of a similar opinion. I think that Fawlty Towers would be like The Ritz in comparison. You have been warned!!!!
The door of our room didn't close. It took us several minutes and a lucky shot to lock it every time. After housekeeping came, they left our door unlocked. On the third day our door didn't open and there was not a single person in the hotel who could help us so we had to call Antonio (the person in charge) to let us in our own room. We had to wait for 20 minutes while we wanted to take a shower and get ready for a dinner party. I mentioned the broken lock to Antonio on the first day but nothing changed. I also mentioned that our tv didn't work but nothing changed either. Breakfast is a depressing joke (see pictures) The pool is nasty, the poolbeds might give you a fungal disease, the "garden" is distasteful, the 4 jacuzzis in the 2 gazebos (+/-70°C air temperature) are just there to get an extra star rating I suppose. There's no bar, no restaurant, no one at the front desk. The towels are like sandpaper, the amenities are stupid => 2 combs, bath soaps and a shoe shinecloth. There's a telephone in the room but no number to call the reception desk. The room was very dark because 3 lights were broken. There aren't enough electricity sockets next to the bed. The environment is deserted and weird, nothing shows that they run this hotel with love. At "breakfast" there's some staff but they give me a very weird vibe. The "orange juice" is fake, it tastes like lysomucil, the yoghurt is lukewarm, the ham and cheese are lying on the table unrefrigerated and disgusting flies are contaminating the products. The "croissants" and other viennoiseries are prewrapped in plastic bags and needless to say, awful. €360 for 3 nights is an insult! This hotel makes me sad, mad, it confuses me and I hope someone shuts it down real soon so that no one else has to endure such a terrible experience ever again! What a nightmare!!!!
