Loved being at Cortijo Romero. First visited in 1992 at the tender age of ten with my Father. We had a great time! Sad to read this establishment is closing. Wishing the current owners a peaceful retirement & the new owners a successful business! Sarah
We were charmed by the rustic elegance of this cortijo and lovely surprises like the thoughtful treats waiting for us upon arrival and the lush secret garden with barbecue area and pool hidden behind the main building. Comfortable and spacious with a well stocked kitchen, and the hosts made sure we had everything we needed.
As a former travel writer, asking me to name the most delightful and relaxing lodging I’ve ever stayed in is sort of like asking me to name my favorite child. However, Cortijo Romero near Venta de Micena is at the very top of my list. To a symphony of bird song amidst a pallete of fragrant flowers with mountains as a backdrop, the hosts have created a retreat that makes you think you’ve walked onto a movie set. From the freshly baked bread waiting on the counter to the basket of things you might have forgotten to pack, from the comfy furnishings to the lush garden and pool area, someone knows what’s wanted in a home away from home. The only downside to staying here is not wanting to leave.
