Courthouse Hotel

I’ve stayed at this hotel twice, and both times were truly excellent experiences. The location is absolutely perfect — very central and close to all the key attractions in London, as well as cafés and restaurants. The room was spacious, and the bed was large and comfortable. During my second stay, the room I was initially given didn’t quite meet my expectations. However, once I requested a room change, the staff responded promptly and were incredibly helpful and accommodating. The reception team and all the staff members were consistently polite, friendly, and professional. Their hospitality really made a difference and added to the overall positive experience. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting London.

The location cannot be beat. However, it is hardly a 5 star hotel. I will place it between 3 and 4 star. The restaurant staff for breakfast is lovely and attentive. The staff at reception needs some training at customer service. On arrival, the room was not ready unti the precise time of 3 pm. This is fine, but she can be nicer about informing us of that. Also, it is the first time (having stayed at hotels around the world) of having the cost of the entire stay charged (not held) on check-in! We stayed 7 nights. We only had our rooms cleaned for 2 of the nights. They seem very short-staffed. As they need to do the checked out rooms first, most of the continuing guest rooms are not cleaned until 5 or 6 pm. That does not work for us, as we want to rest or freshen up before dinner or after a busy day touring! We ended up just taking new towels from their storage areas most days! It did not improve when we informed reception that we had had no cleaning for 2 nights, and on the 3rd night, still no cleaning at 530 pm! On hearing that, all they said was “the checked out rooms need to be cleaned first!”.

Reception was great — friendly and efficient staff made check-in easy and welcoming. However, several aspects of the hotel were disappointing. The swimming pool and sauna are operated by a third party, and towels aren’t provided by the hotel, which is inconvenient. The pool water didn’t seem very fresh either. The gym is tiny — really only suitable for a very basic workout. The hotel and rooms are quite outdated. The bathroom experience was poor: flushing the toilet caused loud refilling noises that lasted a while, and the shower had inconsistent hot water, which was frustrating. Breakfast was okay — basic, nothing fancy. Overall, not quite the standard you’d expect for the price. Needs renovation and better attention to guest comfort.
