Courtyard by Marriott Biel Bienne

We had the most wonderful stay thanks to Miss Park and Leo, who were both the friendliest and most helpful of people we met on our trip to Switzerland. Firstly Leo was so helpful during check in and gave a fantastic introduction to the hotel and its facilities, and also showed us the highlights of Biel. Then later Ms Park, Leo and another wonderful staff member went above and beyond with a birthday celebration for my partner. The breakfast staff were equally lovely and I was impressed. Even though it was only for one night, we only have good words about our stay at Courtyard Biel.

Great location. Good sized clean room. Enjoyed breakfast. The air conditioning did not seem to work well in the room. The temperature would not go below 23C. One person at the reception told us that it was the hotel policy and could not be set lower. A technician visited our room to see if anything could be done. Another person at the reception offered to give us a new room, but the new room’s air conditioning was not any better. Another person brought us a portable fan which helped a lot when sleeping. Appreciate the staff’s efforts, but I still want to sleep in a cool room with proper air conditioning, so 2-stars.

Dirty. Very dirty. The cleaning does not work in the hotel. In front of the lobby you can find used coffee mugs, used plates (all from hotel staff quite obviously) - noboy cleans them away. Weirdly the same happens on the floors: on our floor, in front of the elevators (!) on a decorative table, they put an empty bottle of champagne, used glasses and cutlery - it stayed there for 24 hours. We asked twice at the reception to get our room cleaned (first time at noon, second time at 1300 and now it is 1600: room still not cleaned...). Avoid.
