Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Downtown Little Italy

Stayed July 10–13, 2025. We were fortunate to check in early with Lillian, who was incredibly friendly and helpful. She let us know that the hotel is still undergoing renovations and that amenities (pool, gym, restaurant) weren't available—something I was already aware of from reading reviews. I assume resort fees weren’t charged because of this, which worked out well since we didn’t plan to use them during our short trip. Lillian’s warm welcome set a positive tone for our stay, especially after a day of travel. I was informed that the room renovations had been completed and during my stay, I didn’t hear any construction noise. I stayed on the 12th floor (room 1217), which was newly renovated, spacious, and relatively quiet for downtown. While I could occasionally hear neighboring rooms, it wasn’t disruptive. The patio had city view with a bit of water view further away—a pleasant bonus. Housekeeping seemed to be on request; I called to arrange it. Parking was very tight so I wouldn’t recommend it for inexperienced drivers. The location was ideal being in Little Italy and walkable nearby attractions. Check Google Maps because walking distance can vary depending on the individual. We booked through a third-party site and encountered a billing issue but Lillian resolved it immediately at check out. The hotel is transitioning under new ownership (now Marriott), which might explain the billing issue. Thank you Lillian—I hope you see this. I would recommend staying here.

We were worried because of such low reviews but honestly had a 5 star experience here! We booked on Hotel Tonight app's daily drop. We were upgraded to a king room on arrival, amazing view of city and harbor, very very new and clean room, towels so fresh and clean, super comfy bed. Room service was quick to respond for requests. Didn't mess with parking garage or fees as there was ample (free) street parking even on the weekend. Walked down the street to Little Italy restaurants.

Decent stay, very close to Little Italy. Definitely check out the farmers market that's right next to the hotel. During the end of my stay, they swapped the main lobby from Front Street to Union Street. New lobby is much bigger and nicer. Parking garage is $40 a night and very very tight spots. Also difficult to go up and down floors with a larger vehicle. Breakfast is just bagels and fruit. Tea and coffee is available 24/7.
