Last week, I had the joy of photographing a magical proposal at Cowley Manor Experimental, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. The lush grounds, romantic architecture, and serene atmosphere created the perfect setting for such a meaningful moment. Every corner offered a new backdrop; from the elegant gardens to the charming interiors, making it a dream location for timeless photographs. As a wedding and couples photographer, I’m always seeking places that enhance the story I’m capturing, and Cowley Manor exceeded all expectations. The team on-site were warm, accommodating, and ensured the couple felt relaxed and special throughout the experience. The result was a collection of images filled with genuine emotion, framed by the beauty of the manor itself. If you’re looking for a proposal location that blends luxury, history, and romance, I can’t recommend Cowley Manor Experimental enough. It’s a venue that not only delights in person but also translates beautifully through the lens.

We had the best time celebrating our anniversary and birthdays over a 10/10 weekend. Dinner and massage were a bit lumpy price wise but can’t complain on quality. Interiors and setting are amazing, but what was really special was the grounds, immaculate and biodiverse full of nature. Cocktails and lovely waitress were really good in the bar. I’d love to return one day!

Charming Design, Incredible Cocktails & Gardens – But Spa and Value Fall Short Cowley Manor Experimental offers a visually striking and stylish retreat, full of playful design details that make it a unique place to stay. From arrival, the experience is warm and inviting—the reception staff are genuinely lovely and provide a helpful, informative tour that sets the tone for the stay. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, featuring impressively large bathrooms that add a luxurious feel. Dining is a highlight: dinner was excellent, supported by a well-curated drinks list, and breakfast was generous and high-quality. The standout is the experimental cocktail bar, which served some truly incredible cocktails—even for someone who typically doesn’t enjoy them. The setting is nothing short of spectacular. The expansive gardens are beautifully maintained, with serene lakes, fountains, and elegant water features that make exploring the grounds a genuine pleasure. However, a few downsides are worth noting. The spa, while included in the stay, is in clear need of refurbishment. Though the indoor pool is a real asset—warm, clean, and offering lovely views—the steam room was out of order during our visit, and the sauna was disappointing: cramped, with exposed plasterboard and a dirty floor. Additionally, the car park can fill up quickly, which can be frustrating. Finally, while the overall experience is enjoyable, the price is very high for what’s currently offered—especially given the underwhelming state of the spa. In summary, Cowley Manor Experimental delivers memorable design, excellent food and drinks, and stunning grounds, but needs improvements in its spa and better value for the premium cost.
