We stayed here for a week. It’s a beautiful, peaceful location just 10 minutes from Peebles. The service from the staff was excellent. We had most meals at the hotel, which were elaborate, varied and delicious. I would certainly stay again if we return to the Scottish borders.

My family and I absolutely loved it here! We wish we could have stayed longer. The rooms were phenomenal. We only had the delicious breakfast (we'll be dreaming about that whisky porridge forever). The lounge was very cozy to have a drink at the end of our day. The outside was stunning, too. We appreciated the walk after breakfast to take on the countryside air. Thank you Cringletie!

+ wonderful architecture and grounds + warm welcome and excellent staff + room small but well designed with delightful features, including welcome drams of whisky and interesting books + friendly, professional and warm welcome from the owner over dinner + lovely views with Highland cows in the adjacent field - stayed here mostly on account of the restaurant offering. we learned that the head chef had left two weeks prior, which unfortunately really showed: undercooked risotto, nuked fish, also surprisingly slow service with only four tables to serve. we dine out often across the UK and Europe and are not too demanding but this was very poor value for money on the food front. We were quite relaxed and didn't mind so much given how friendly the staff were and the general surroundings, but the real let down was breakfast - our soft boiled eggs were boiled beyond hard, our coffee left us wishing we had used the lovely nespresso machines in the rooms; but the lasting memory was being served supermarket mass produced style sliced bread as toast, which we both realised far too late had mould around the edges and the poor waitress seemed fairly mortified to see when she asked if something was wrong with our breakfast. Fairly dismal food given the prices charged and unfortunately let down an otherwise lovely experience.
