Does what it says on the tin. Mid range hotel, clean, tidy, a little bit of noise from other rooms but they are straight up about that. Also had a fan which was helpful for the hot weather.
I visited the Crofts Hotel on a quick trip to the south of Wales with my other half last week. We both really enjoyed our stay! Modern and clean rooms, although smaller than we expected. Reasonably priced drinks at the bar and very friendly and talkative staff. We were also joined by the cat (called Kat), with whom I had the honour of being her lap to sit on that evening. There was also a parrot that lives in the pub, but it didn't have too much to say other than the occasional "whoop!". The only downside I would say would be the availability of street parking, but as long as you don't mind walking a slight distance.
I’d like to offer a suggestion to the Crofts: rather than sending door codes via text message—something typically reserved for friends and family—it would be much more reliable and professional to email guests, especially those traveling internationally. My eSIM, like many others, only supports data and not phone or text, so I never received any message. I arrived at 10:45 PM, rang the bell posted outside several times, and stood outside alone for quite a while with no response. I was already feeling vulnerable, being in an unfamiliar area late at night. When someone finally came to the door, I was met not with understanding, but with hostility. I was immediately scolded for “waking up the whole house” by a man I didn’t know, which was alarming. If the bell disturbs other guests, perhaps there should be clearer guidance on what to do when someone can’t call or text. For international travelers with data-only plans, the bell may feel like the only option in a stressful situation. While this man let his cat inside, he muttered, “Even the cat doesn’t like you,” which felt shockingly unkind. When I tried to explain that I hadn’t received the door code due to my phone’s limitations, I was cut off with, “I don’t want to hear your sob story.” This interaction left me feeling deeply shaken. I spent the night feeling unwelcome, anxious, and genuinely afraid. It was an upsetting and humiliating way to be introduced to Wales. That said, I’m giving two stars because I was eventually let in, and I do recognize that. But I hope future guests are met with more empathy and better communication. P.S. I read through the reviews & how is this place still operating whilst one of the staff members at the Crofts leaves nasty replies to bad reviews?!?!?
