Crowne Plaza Chester by IHG

Ideal location for exploring Chester. The communal parts of the hotel as modern and well maintained but the rooms require modernisation and some TLC. Our bedroom smelt a bit musty and the bathroom door wouldn’t shut properly. The fridge didn’t work in our room and we were missing an iron. We did report this all when we checked out so hopefully all sorted now.

Stayed before & it’s ok for a weekend in Chester. Great location for local shopping & restaurants. The gym is fine & the pool/jacuzzi a great facility. Rooms are tired & in mine the curtains were torn & stained-heating didn’t work, so they had to send up a radiator! One point - DO NOT pay up front/ in advance! I usually do free cancellation, but didn’t this time & saw the room price had dipped on the day I got here, so I lost around £40 on a two night stay. Gutted as a waste of money for the same room! I did mention it at reception. Ask for an off main road view, otherwise take ear plugs as traffic is 24/7! Also booked a massage at the spa-their communication was immediate & efficient. The bar/lounge staff are very polite; coffee even served with a few maltesers; nice touch! They are also very helpful with restaurant reservations & the food I ordered was fine. Wait on staff were all professional & friendly. Parking is £17@night - its limited, so recommended to arrive 11:00-12:00, as late afternoon it’s often full.

Just headed back from a weekend here, staff were so lovely and couldn't fault breakfast but was very disappointed with the room. Very unclean, thick dust everywhere kettle was extremely dirty inside and out all surfaces needed a good wipe down carpets seem to be extremely old as full of marks/stains which wasn't great as we had our baby with us felt like it wasn't clean enough for her. However like I say staff lovely breakfast great but wouldn't stay again as I think pricing to high to get a room like we did.
