Crowne Plaza Ft. Myers Gulf Coast by IHG

Came to Fort Myers for the first time for business and this looked like one of the better hotels in the area so we decided to stay here. Pros: Close to the airport, shops and restaurants. A ton of parking. Hotel itself and rooms look updated and modern. The lobby floor is very nice with a bar and restaurant. Food and drinks are decently priced. Breakfast buffet was good with many options. Pool, jacuzzi and fire pit outside right on the lake. Cons: There was no central air in the rooms, only ac units. I don’t know if it’s always like this or it only occurred during our stay but every day we were there the hotel building blocked the sun from the pool area. We thought breakfast came with the room but it did not. When we brought it up to the front desk they did give us 2 free breakfast buffet tickets. Overall the best part of this hotel was the service. It was outstanding. Everyone that worked there from the hotel desk, to the waitresses at the restaurant to the bartenders at the bar, everyone was so nice and catered to your every need. Jefferson at the front desk is wonderful and his service and hospitality was top notch. If I ever come back to Fort Myers this is where I would stay.

Staying at the crowne plaza was actually a very good stay, overall, 4.5 stars, to get this rating, here are some things I have noted Cons: apon getting to our room, on the 5th floor (which will be important later, but doesn't subtract from rating alone), the bathroom already smelled like someone already took a dump in it, and the thermometer was broken, however that's not TOO bad, compared to other hotels I've been in at least. And, on the second day there, they were testing the elevators, and we decided to go to the pool, they did not give an announcement or anything before testing the elevators, and we had to use the stairs, with a baby, and all our swim gear. Pros: the beds were very well made, the views were stunning, and despite the thermometer being broken, the AC worked very well. The pool wasn't too clean, and did have a very very bad water bug (capable of delivering "one of the most painful stings in the animal kingdom"~ coyote peterson), but we got it out and flung it away. The food was some of the best I have had, and the environment of the hotel was very welcoming, it made (me at least) feel like an actual human being, instead of just a visitor. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. And the view from the pool gives an outstanding view for watching planes take off. Over all, this gets a 4.5 star rating from me!
