Crowne Plaza Shennongjia

We stayed at Crowne Plaza Shennongjia during the low season in late March. While the experience had its ups and downs, there were some notable aspects worth mentioning. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with several aspects of our stay. Upon check-in, we were informed of various closures and changes that were not communicated beforehand. The executive lounge was closed, and instead of compensation, we received meal vouchers. Additionally, the swimming pool was closed for maintenance with no compensation, and the breakfast buffet was unavailable, forcing us to order from a limited menu where items were frequently unavailable. Only one restaurant remained open for dinner, and to our dismay, the central heater was turned off to save electricity, which made the stay less comfortable. Furthermore, despite being the only guests on our floor, we were denied an upgrade. Our breakfast experience was chaotic, with wrong or missing orders despite our efforts to confirm availability. However, amidst these challenges, the staff did their best to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. Special thanks to an intern whose pleasant demeanor brightened our dinner time. On a positive note, our King Junior Suite Living Area Garden View room was spacious and well-designed. Moreover, due to the low season, we had the hotel mostly to ourselves, providing a unique experience. Additionally, the dinner at the restaurant was enjoyable and reasonably priced compared to eateries in Muyu town. Overall, while our stay had its share of disappointments, the efforts of the staff and the pleasant accommodations somewhat redeemed the experience. However, improvements in communication and service consistency are necessary for a more satisfying stay in the future.
