Crowne Plaza Vientiane by IHG

Spent a couple nights here and it was a great stay for my birthday! Staff made me feel welcome and the decorated bed and cake really made my day. I also loved the real plants they upkeep nicely, especially the big beautiful orchids at the front desk. The staff tried to be helpful with my currency exchange issue but I ended up having to get in contact with my American bank to get $ from the ATM. The gym and pool were nice, outdoor showers were really convenient and they were accommodating that I spent the whole day after checkout vegging around waiting on my sleeper bus. Oh and I ate at the restaurant on the first floor and it was delicious! Got the soft shell crab (good but gave me bad heartburn rip) and chocolate banana lava cake 10/10 plus a couple complimentary foods I appreciated!

We had a fantastic stay at Crowne Plaza. The room was spacious and felt almost brand new. Pool and gym facilities were excellent, with staff on hand at all times to ensure we were looked after. A special mention for Paul who welcomed us when we checked in. The service we received from him was second to none. My partner mentioned that it was our anniversary and we came back to the room to find the bed made up beautifully, and later we were gifted a chocolate dessert! We will be back in a heartbeat when visiting Vientiane again.

The room was a comfortable size — not too small or cramped. It had both a bathtub and a separate shower, which made things very convenient. The in-room facilities were fully equipped without needing to ask for anything extra. Breakfast was quite good with a nice variety of options. Unfortunately, there were some serious downsides. The deposit charged per room for meals was unusually high. Even worse, the bathroom was not properly cleaned — I found a curly hair on the wall, which was very unpleasant, and a strand of hair on the bed. These hygiene issues should never happen in any hotel. When reported, the staff only offered an apology without any compensation or solution, which was disappointing. Because of this, I don’t think I’ll be staying here again.
