Crowne Plaza Yichang by IHG

Choices for western hotels are limited in Yichang so you'll likely just stay here. It's a good hotel for being in the middle of nowhere and the location is great. It's along the river and right next to a massive shopping center (make a right when you step outside). The shopping center has a McD, Burger King, KFC etc if this is the last leg of your trip and all you want is some cheese for the first time in weeks. Breakfast is ok and staff is friendly. Rooms are clean and you get fruit as an IHG member. Ridiculous amount of lobby decorations though. Who is it for? A+ for effort but damn..

One of few choices of Western style hotels in Yichang. Staff is friendly and the hotel itself luxurious. Two minus points. Despite having a consierge desk nobody felt obligated to man that position. And the internet was surprisingly unreliable, and I mean the connection itself, not the usual censorship. Still, it's a good place to recharge your batteries.

Good location facing the river and next to Wanda mall with a good IMAX cinema, HaiDiLao, Walmart etc. We were assigned to a room on a non smoking floor but it has a lingering scent of smoke. Managed to get a switch to another floor and have the windows opened. That helped. One of the staff named Jim was very helpful to make this happen. The other ladies behind the reception on the other hand were not. Seemed to be more interested in their computers, is it so difficult to lift their heads up when guests are standing in front of the reception? Overall, still a good experience - there are not many international hotels in Yichang.
