Crowne Plaza Zhongshan Wing on City by IHG

A very comfortable hotel, great beds, good bathrooms with bath and shower. Friendly service at reception from both English speakers and non English speakers (we don't speak Cantonese). Everything felt polished (though I'm not accustomed to 4* hotels!). A dizzying array of breakfast buffet goods including comprehensive noodle soup offering. A lovely outdoor pool. There is a subterranean supermarket 3 minutes away and a mall 10 minutes in the opposite direction. If you need to stay in south Zhongshan this is a lovely option.

Even though this hotel has been around since 2011, it still hasn't lost its appeal of being in the higher end of the IHG chain which is all over the world. Overall design outside, lobby, facility and in room are quite pleasing for me. Finding room is the easiest as each floor is either direction from elevators with a centrum that's open space through all floors. All in room amenities are present: hot shower with good pressure and full sized tub. Bed is King Koil and extra comfy. AC control is slightly less friendly where it took awhile to get to desire settings. WIFI though free but like many hotels in China you can't get full access to all internet worldwide. Bathroom exhaust there's no switch that I can find, guess that's automatic. Free breakfast was quite good with both East and West choices.

Needs Improvement, But Has Potential I recently stayed at this hotel, and while it has some positives, there are areas that need attention. The room itself felt like it needed maintenance—unfortunately, the shower was leaking from the ceiling, which was quite inconvenient. The breakfast was okay, but I couldn’t help but notice that it has declined compared to previous years. The variety and quality that once made it stand out just weren’t there this time. The hotel still has potential, especially if the management addresses the maintenance issues and brings back the high standard of breakfast it used to have. I hope to see improvements on my next visit.
