I love historic hotels, and this one has been there a long time. It is updated nicely while retaining the flavor of its history. It is located across from an area with wonderful beaches. Sometimes, the test of a good hotel is when something goes wrong. After 10 pm we had a problem with the toilet that Tuğba hanım could not remedy herself She called the maintenance man and then gave us the option of another room, which we took. I think this is exceptionally good service. The breakfast is at the sister hotel a block away which was lovely. I recommend this hotel to anyone on holiday here.

We had a delightful experience at this small, nicely furnished Cumbalıca . The simplicity of the decor with nice paintings on the white walls. Makes a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making us feel right at home during our stay. The attention to detail in the furnishings added a touch of charm and comfort to the overall ambiance. One of the highlights of my stay was the delicious breakfast provided each morning. The variety of options and the quality of the food exceeded my expectations, and it was the perfect way to start to our day. Another aspect that impressed me was the daily cleanup service. Returning to a tidy and well-maintained room after a day of exploration was a pleasant surprise and added to the overall sense of relaxation. The location of the establishment was ideal, offering a lovely view that added to the overall charm of the place. The serene excess of the surroundings made it a tranquil and rejuvenating experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any requests or inquiries I had during my stay. Their warm hospitality made us feel valued as a guest, and I appreciated their efforts to ensure I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. In conclusion, our time at this small, nicely furnished establishment was truly delightful. From the good breakfast and daily cleanup, to the sea excess and attentive staff, it was a memorable experience that I would gladly recommend to others seeking a relaxing and charming getaway.

Came to Çeşme off season (May 20th) and had checked many reviews of other similar hotels. Cumbalica Hotel had the most consistently good reviews for a seafront hotel and the price was excellent online. When we came to the hotel, we were greeted by the warm and helpful staff. They told us only 2 rooms would be available and we would have to switch after one night. After viewing the rooms briefly, we decided to book because they looked clean, rooms were very specious and the location was seafront. The whole vibe was simple, clean, beachy decor, small boutique style.. Here are my pros and cons: Pros 1. Staff was so kind, welcoming and helpful 2. The location was beautiful. Seafront views, close to little shops and restaurants, 7 min drive from gorgeous Ilica Beach. 3. option to rent a lounge chair and umbrella for 200 lira to sunbathe and admire the sea as their seafront option. 4. 10 min drive from Alacati and the Marina. 5. We went off season so it wasn’t busy or congested. 6. The rooms were the size of mini apartments with a kitchen. It was clean, no cigarette smell, had enough linen for 4 people. We faced the sea and had beautiful sunlit rooms all day. Didn’t feel like a hotel room but more so like an apartment. 7. We felt safe, no loud music, no partying at night. (Again it was off season) Cons 1. The bathroom. After closely examining the shower, it wasn’t cleaned well. It seems like it was superficially cleaned between all the guests. I’m hoping staff reads this so they know that the edges NEED to be cleaned better. After seeing this I questioned the cleanliness of the rest of the room and wondered if they cut corners elsewhere. 2. Some bathroom fixtures can use an update. Like the shower handle wasn’t securely attached, rust on some pipes. 3. Both bathrooms had water leaking from the shower or the toilet and was annoying because I had to use towels to keep the whole things from flooding. 4. The pools are not on site. They have another hotel about 100 meters away with the pools. They had 2 pools, one thermal and the other a regular pool?.. The only one working and available was the thermal pool and it was nice and warm. However, the other pool had half the water drained and it look like it was sitting for a while. Looked very unclean and again made me question the cleanliness of the pool area. 5. There is a small little beach cove to get in the water right in front of the hotel. The beach area had a bit of trash and can get over crowded in the day. Although in theory it’s nice that it’s right in front of the hotel, it wouldn’t be fun to use and share with dozens of people. 6. The walls are thin and if there are other loud guests, you would be able to hear them. 7. We paid an additional 100$ for our total stay despite telling them the online price was less. The manager said the rooms were nicer rooms and the price is a bit higher for that reason. 8. The second floor rooms have no privacy in that people on the street have full view of your room. They don’t have decent curtains to close at night, that was a bit uncomfortable. The 3rd floor room is more private and has a balcony. After driving around the city and looking up some names of other hotels, we found that we could’ve booked a higher rated hotel, for the same price and more amenities if we just moved a bit more inland. We noted them for next time. Our overall summary is: We had a wonderful time. This is an amazing city and it’s very hard not to enjoy yourself, with kids or without. We are a more conservative family and I’d definitely say come off season if you want to avoid the crowds, tiny swimsuits and partying. We were content with our stay. We probably won’t book again and I personally would recommend a different place to friends. However, if you’re looking for a simple safe place to stay, nice staff and don’t mind the negatives, I’d say it’s a good booking, but do it online to save money as the online value made more sense for a hotel like this. I feel a 3.5 star rating is more appropriate.
