The room is large and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom has a shower and bathtub, making it a pleasure to soak in. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
Wanna start out with my negative points. Room very small and mattresses uncomfortable. Difficult for two people to walk around within the room at the same time. Asked for two extra pillows and an additional luggage rack and it was like I was asking for the front desk, clerks first newborn son. Kept telling me we don’t have any. We only give one out per customer no extra pillows. This went on and on until they finally found some. Each room had one pillow per bed. Standard Japan, having to go downstairs each day and pick up all your personal amenities a real pain in the ass and it seems to me a waste of money for the hotel. On the positive side, it was clean Daily and the location was very convenient walkable to the local train station.
I'm only reviewing on my experience of expectation vs reality. There are always two sides to every story, but unfortunately, my experience at Daiwa Roynet Hotel Aomori did not meet the expectations I had when booking. I chose to visit Aomori for the Nebuta Festival and, after reviewing several options, decided to treat myself by spending a bit more for a room with a city view at this hotel. The booking site showed nice images and reviews that led me to believe I’d be enjoying a nice cityview from my room. However, upon check-in, my view was nothing much but a rooftop and concrete walls. It was unfortunate. I wouldn’t usually be one to care much about these things, but in this case, I genuinely felt that I paid extra for something that was misrepresented. Had I known, I would have stuck with my original, more affordable option, since the view would nothing, regardless. In addition, when I inquired about the issue, I was told that a room with the view would cost even more and would also be a smoking room — something that doesn’t work for me. It felt frustrating to have already paid more and still be told that the room I expected was only available at a further cost, with a compromise I couldn’t accept. I had higher expectations of this hotel, believing it to be among the better-rated options in Aomori. Sadly, my experience this time was disappointing. I sincerely hope the hotel revises its room descriptions and marketing to better reflect what guests will actually receive. As for service, I’ve rated it as neutral. The staff were polite, but the language barrier made it difficult to communicate the details of my concern, which added to my frustration.
