Overall, our stay at the Dalen Hotel was a more or less positive experience. The hotel has a unique and charming style – it almost feels like staying in a living museum. The historic atmosphere is enhanced by live piano music in the lobby, which creates a truly special ambiance. The service in the restaurant was excellent and lived up to the expectations of a high-end hotel. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the reception, where the service felt less attentive and professional. The room itself did not meet our expectations for a hotel that positions itself in the five-star category. The shower was extremely small, making it difficult to move comfortably. In addition, the sink was placed very low – which might add to the historic character, but compromises practicality and comfort. In summary: While the hotel offers a special and atmospheric experience, especially in terms of style and restaurant service, there is room for improvement in room quality and reception service to fully meet five-star standards.

This hotel is a major illusion. There is a huge gap between the promises made on the website and the reality. A few of the disappointments we encountered: We booked a luxury room and received an attic chamber with unbearable temperatures, stuffy air, and a steeply sloped ceiling. Of the six charging stations we had inquired about and were assured would be available, not a single one was working. A real problem, considering the next charging station was nearly 50 km away. This cost us about 6 hours of our vacation. The strictly enforced dress code, which was emphasized twice in advance, was ignored by almost all guests. Unfortunate for those who unnecessarily used up their limited flight luggage space for it. For a hotel that claims to have such high standards, the overall performance is absolutely unacceptable. There was no management presence available to address these issues. The poor, frail young women at the reception offered to carry 30 kg suitcases up two flights of stairs – clearly far too heavy for them. We are deeply disappointed that accessibility seems to be of no concern to this hotel. We will definitely not be recommending this hotel.

Pretentious. It’s fine to be pretentious when you deliver but this is just an old run down hotel. It’s all poorly and cheaply executed without taste. The restaurant is jacket only and what to say of the breakfast: the staff is cold bordering agressive when talking to you, the selection is just sad and standard hygiene inexistant (doesn’t take a lot to add serving tongs to avoid having guest touching pastries etc) It looks stunning but it needs new owners to bring some life in here and god some humility
