This is a great place to stay! A perfect location close to attractions, shops and transport! The service was simply outstanding. Hans was just awesome, nothing was too much trouble for him. The team in Lou Lou’s restaurant were fabulous, so much fun and really made us feel welcome! Highly recommend staying here to anyone.
It’s overpriced. But we booked this apartment due to the lack of other options and because it’s in the city center. One month later, I received a transaction from the bank with 92€ from Damrak. I thought my card was stolen and had to deactivate all my credit cards. When I inquired about it, the response was “sorry our city tax has increased from 10% to 12.5% in 2024 and we had to charge you” although I made the reservation and paid in Dec 2023. This makes no sense. They should’ve at least informed me before using my card out of a sudden. They refused to refund me as “this is the government’s money not ours”. Completely unacceptable. So disappointed. 2 stars for the location.
Yikes! Rats! (Literally). I won’t be back anytime soon. Tl:dr: Photos on Booking / Expedia / Hotels are misleading (or 5 years out of date). Awful property condition. Visible mold in bathroom vents. Furniture has cigarette burns. Dirty dishes in the kitchen. Wet outside stairs are deadly. And a rodent problem (traps hidden in the apartment). Pros: If you’re coming for a lad/lass drinking trip to central with all your mates this place is for you. You’ll think the location is great and you can go get smashed. Cons: @ almost €500 a night this place is a scam. It’s not suitable for kids or families. The pictures on all the booking sites were taken years ago. The flat does not look like this. It’s on top of a restaurant. Super noisy. The furniture is in terrible shape and full of cigarette burns. The stairs inside and out (wet and slippery) are a death trap- literally, my 7 year old slipped multiple times. The dishes in the kitchen were dirty (gross!). And to top it all off, they have a rodent problem. You will see rats and find evidence of them in the flat. There are traps hidden behind the curtains as further proof. We left on the second night once we found new accommodation. The place was disgusting. The owners were MIA and will not discuss a refund. We broke up the rest of our trip to Amsterdam with our two kids between: The Jakarta Hotel (2 nights) Consciousness Hotel (3 nights) July Boat & Co. (3 nights) All these other properties were great and worked out to basically the same price as this rat infested dump. Never again. Ps. About me: Past 12-months. Frequent traveler. About 8-10 countries with my family since last summer. Probably 20-30+ properties around the world in the past year. Haven’t been burned like this at any of them. Buyer beware.
