This premier hotel and restaurant is an oasis of beauty and calm. The gardens are a lush mixture of vegetative abundance amidst the sere landscape where water is life. The rooms are a contemporary interpretation of Moroccan traditions and comfort. The service is impeccable and the food is exquisite. Friendly guard cats are included free of charge.
We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Dar Al Hossoun. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The rooms were kept beautifully clean. The hotel restaurant provided great food, both traditional Moroccan food and other cuisines. We used the hotel excursion booking facility which was excellent. We found the bed mattress very hard hence the four stars on an otherwise five star stay.
Very mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms were very nice but, at this price point - 2 - 4 times the cost of their local competitors - we would expect much greater consistency of service. We stayed 4 nights. The same food, ordered 2 days in a row, could be of completely different standard, unless you complained. Breakfast pancakes - soft and fluffy … or microwaved leftovers, depending on their mood. Very little English spoken (it’s a French run hotel) making straightforward requests (replenishing room teabags for example) almost comically difficult. New Years Eve was a real low point - after a shambolic 2 hours where we didn’t get past the starters, we made do with bread rolls and emergency spaghetti bolognese for our son at 11 pm (with thanks to the staff member who at least organised this). Staff were working hard but just not trained for the extravagant and over-formalised production this hotel aspires to. We have travelled in Morocco for over 30 years. This hotel was an expensive mistake. The fact that the owners have taken time to attack previous critical reviewers for lacking taste, rather than showing humility and a desire to do better, tells you everything you need to know.
