Dar Azawad

Very difficult to fault this place being literally on the edge of the Sahara. Rooms are either single standing or semi-detached mud brick with lots of space and character. Good selection of quality food. Aircon if you need it but try to savour the cool breeze at night, most intoxicating. They also have good fridges judging by the readily available cold beers. Staff are always willing to please. Most recommended.

Not so friendly staff. We stayed one night and wanted to book a dessert safari. Finaly we did not book here due is felt very commercial (read: money driven) Instead we booked our dessert trip at Dar Sahara Tours which i really recommend (see my review) For the rest the room was ok, breakfast basic. Staffed looked bored during breakfast.

Glory of days past. This has been a nice hotel in the past, no doubt, but it has fallen in disrepair. Wood without paint, uncleaned pool, garden uncared for and hoses and cables everywhere. Lots of insects and spiders in the room and plumbing broken. There is a lot of personnel, some of which are friendly, but we had the least warm welcome since we arrived in Morocco a fortnight ago. A bit of a disappointment in this beautiful and friendly country. The beds and the breakfast were the only good points we can mention.
