Dar Es Salaam Serena Hotel

Very comfortable and clean hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. I will look for hotels of the same chain to stay at for my future trips.

The hotel is located in the area easily identified as the city Centre, near the diplomatic streets. Centrally for access of many must see places in Dar. Save for the aged facility in general, I think they've maintained it pretty decent. Staff can be nonchalant and in some cases outright unprofessional and I am not sure if it's a training gap or a general attitude towards specific customers. If they fix these gaps, I think guests will have better experiences in the facility and their stay in Dar.

Poor customer service. I was waiting for a cab at the reception when a convoy, presumably a government delegation, arrived. A man in uniform alighted and stood at attention outside the vehicle. There seemed to be some protocol to be followed. Instead of informing me about what was happening and politely asking me to stand aside, one of the hotel's security personnel dragged me by the arm and pushed me aside. It was appalling and disrespectful. Your non-Tanzanian visitors may not understand such protocols. Treat them with respect regardless.
