Dar Nour Fes

What an amazing experience! The owner was a big part of our overall experience in our trip to Morocco and Fes. Nour was an amazing host and offered many different amenities for us as guests. From breakfast and dinner options at the Riad, to local tour guides, to transportation to and from the airport and train station he was a huge help! He even offered to take us to a local art exhibit as we were very interested in the local culture. The staff was amazing as well. Friendly and happy to provide the services to us. The food at the Riad was awesome and very prompt. It was truly like staying with a second family as to how comfortable they made us feel. The Riad itself has been renovated very well with family art and handcrafted walls. Added bonus, we were steps away from the blue gate and the Medina which offered many restaurants and shops. When we return to Fes we will not stay anywhere else. SIDE NOTE: Fes is considered the spiritual center of Morocco and is a very proud city and people. It is much different than Marrakech. Much older and a different vibe altogether. Very relaxed and overall less concerned with commerce as Marrakech was. More so the history and Morrocon culture here to experience in this wonderful city.

We rented this Dar through Airbnb for a really great price. We had the whole house to ourselves, which means we had two bedrooms that were never used! The house and fixtures are beautiful and its very, very conveniently located to Bab Boujloud. The staff are exceptional. As Americans with limited language skills, there were a couple of surprises - we didn't realize that there was staff on site so we didn't anticipate having other people around. They were all fantastic, but just be aware that if you book the whole Dar that doesn't mean you'll have complete privacy. Absolutely not complaining - Faedwa and Miriam were hospitable and prepared a great dinner for us one night, and Hamid took care of so many things from helping to negotiate a problem with a seller to cleaning up broken glass on the rooftop patio. Abdenour was a great host, easily accessible and helpful in arranging an official guide (shout out to Hammed, easily the most informative tour guide EVER) and airport transportation. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Fes.

Beware of the bait and switch here. While I am sure most people were able to get their accommodations that they booked for, I did not. If you look at a few of the reviews on booking, tripadvisor, and even here on google, you can see a common theme emerging from the negative reviews. I booked for a specific room and upon arrival, the owner met with us and told us due to our original room being not available (for whatever reason), he will be accommodating us at another hotel with a similar room. That other hotel was Riad Sheryn and the room that he gave to us was not similar to what we booked at all. There was no communication in advance regarding this change and it was sprang suddenly upon us once we arrived. We had little choice but to accept as we are in a foreign country with little knowledge of the local language. This is predatory and a scam. As I've wrote, most guests will probably get their room that they booked but on occasion, the owner seems to pull this scam. You're rolling the dice when you book this place.
