It's nearly Christmas time when we get back in Baden. The time when we stay there, there's minor fixing to hear the noise. Aside from that, no major issues. Typical European hotel room size, good service ( the lady at the reception desk is lovely and friendly ) and great location to explore and experience Baden hospitality.
Excellent location with added bonus of entry to the pools and spa area. 10 minute walk to the centre and shopping streets. Hotel is great with an eclectic mix of art and furniture. Has to be seen to be believed and we loved it. The bar was honour system which is amazing in this day and age and we enjoyed are evenings there playing cards. Breakfast fantastic, everything you could want from continental to cooked in a buffet style setting. The only negative (sorry) was the mattress was a bit soft for us. However, great stay and great
Review of Villa Gutenbrunn Thermen & Sporthotel Our stay at Villa Gutenbrunn Thermen & Sporthotel was a mixed bag that ultimately left us disappointed. While the hotel is beautifully renovated and has a rich history, it feels more like a self-contained manor than a true 4-star hotel. Positive Aspects: * Location and Access: The hotel has a direct connection to Roman Thermen, featuring an extensive wellness area, which is a major plus for relaxation enthusiasts. * Spacious Suite: We booked a suite that was spacious, clean, and had great windows. * Friendly Staff: The staff, from reception to housekeeping, were consistently helpful and friendly. Areas for Improvement: * Lack of Amenities: The suite lacked basic amenities, such as a coffee machine, kettle, slippers, plates, and some toiletries. This absence was particularly disappointing given the expectations for a 4-star establishment. * Limited Dining Options: The restaurant only serves breakfast, and the breakfast itself was underwhelming. Local produce should be featured more prominently, or even a nice Kaiserschmarrn as the current offerings felt overpriced and lacking. * Room Comfort: The mattress and pillows were too soft and worn out, resulting in discomfort. The shower setup was also cramped, making it difficult to use. * Self-Service Model: The hotel operates on a self-service basis, which may not suit everyone. We found ourselves needing to shop for amenities that should have been provided. Conclusion: Overall, while Villa Gutenbrunn has potential due to its location and friendly staff, it falls short in key areas that justify its 4-star classification. The lack of amenities and inadequate dining options make it overpriced for the service provided. If you're considering a stay, be prepared for a self-contained experience that may not meet typical hotel expectations.
