Ellen, our host was such a welcoming face. We landed here by chance, but it was meant to be! We love this establishment. From the greeting at reception to the staff in the kitchen, smiles all over. The food was delicious and just enough. Wish we could have stayed longer, but our schedule won't allow it. We will definitely be back to this beautiful place.
I can only recommend de Doornkraal. Even though we arrived late and the kitchen was closed since a while our host made sure we could have dinner. Also was willing to show us around on the next day ! We are grateful for the great hospitality and speak very highly of de Doornkraal !
I had an event there two days ago. Terrible. What a rip off, no value for money. I paid for guest gifts, got fresh unrooted cuttings in pots with dry sand. I paid for items that was never served to guests, such as morning tea. The owner had a TERRIBLE attitude towards my guests and I, we felt completely unwelcome. The owner will have to learn how to be hospitable and how to treat people from other cultural backgrounds with respect. I am a guesthouse owner myself and we would NEVER let paying-customers feel unwelcome in any way possible. I will not recommend this guesthouse for an event or function. There's better places in the same street, more friendlier and welcoming.
