Advertised as all rooms have air conditioning, they do not. There's a heat option in the form of a radiator but that's it. There's really nice updated rooms on the website but they do not all look like that. The building itself is pretty, but coming for an afternoon and eating at the restaurant is probably enough. We killed about a dozen of these little moths and didn't want to open the window to get a breeze and bring in more. Overall fine, but wouldn't stay again.
On the face of it, it looks great a beautiful hall in beautiful grounds, what the pictures on the website show is not what you get, don't be fooled.... They miss the care home style building bolted to the side of the hall where you actually stay and its not up to standard, not very clean, and completely out of character for the type of property it once was. The food is just ok, not worth the prices, i would expect great food for the prices they charged... Staff are friendly Leisure facility is not bad at all
Had a deluxe double room and although the room size is above any hotel average there were several things that did not worked for us. Arrived very late and after a very pleasant check-in experience, a cold room "welcomed" us. The only heater in the room was switched off. Of course it took a lot of time to warm up and had a shower and then stepped in the cold room temperature. The mattress was very hard and the double bed was actually two single beds connected. The gap between the mattresses ment that I couldn't sleep next to my wife as it was so uncomfortable. The bathroom is clean but dated and definitely needs refurbishment to be brought up to 2025. Overall, paid £130 per night and felt we didn't get any value for money. The location is beautiful and I am aware there's a leisure centre on site but we didn't try it. The staff were all polite and friendly so I will keep this as a nice memory about a place were we will definitely not return to.
