De Vere Horsley Estate

We booked a double room for 2 nights but then decided to upgrade to a suite. Which was room number 10 overlooking the fish pond. Everything was excellent, ample parking when we arrived, very welcoming staff on reception, our room was ready early and was spotless and spacious with a lovely decking area outside which we used lots. All of the staff go out of their way to help, we ate in the restaurant both nights from the buffet and the main menu and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. We were really pleasantly surprised with the free tea and coffee around the hotel with lots of seating areas to relax. The grounds are beautiful we enjoyed walks and also into the village nearby. The swimming pool was very nice which we used both days we felt a jacuzzi and steam room was lacking however we enjoyed our swim. All in all a fantastic chilled and relaxed few days away highly recommend.

A very pleasant experience. Lovely grounds to explore. Staff were courteous and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, with a comfy bed. We used the swimming pool and this facility was great addition. I didn't use the gym but gym equipment looked modern and well maintained. In the evening, we had a cocktail each which we enjoyed immensely. The evening meal was wonderful and a special mention to both Anthony and James. That was the best burger I have experienced in a very long time. Sublime. The breakfast was excellent with everyone catered for. Highly recommended stay.

Our group (about 60 people, women and children) had a weekend retreat at the hotel. The facility looks great on the surface but my room bathroom for instance needed some repairs as it was leaking. One of the main bathrooms by Horsley Suite 2 had a terrible smell. Maybe it's the water system but it was nasty. The biggest issue for us was that the hotel didn't seem prepared to receive such a large group. (I must admit that we were loud at times in our conference room and at the pool.) They were not very welcoming or friendly in general except for the younger staff. In the dinning room, they had some supposedly reserved seats so we were all packed in a corner. However, no one showed up to occupy the reserved seats. Hygiene - they didn't clean the dining room floors. As at Sunday morning I could see bits of food from the evening before. It seemed they didn't bother to clean it because it was our last day there. Overall, we had high expectations for our stay but was quite disappointed by the quality of the service.
