First visit, and a slightly disappointing stay. I expected a little more from a 4 star hotel. The close location to the M5 is fantastic, and the primary reason why we picked this hotel. The first impression was of a high-end hotel, but it didn't entirely last. Our room was spacious, but we discovered our aircon unit was both noisy and not blowing cold air. There was at least a pedestal fan in the room. We opted to eat in the hotel restaurant, which is where the first impression faded. The food was okay - my fish was a touch dry, but my husband's steak was good. Attention to detail and service from the staff was lacking - we had to ask for glasses for our water, and for a steak knife. It later took them far longer than expected to bring two bowls of ice cream to us when we were the last table to order dessert, but this may have been because they were trying to get ahead with setting up for breakfast (I didn't mind them resetting while diners were finishing meals as I've worked in hospitality myself, though it's perhaps not the most professional approach). We may give this hotel a second chance in the future, but will possibly look for alternative eating arrangements.
Second time we stayed here and the service is always amazing! The gentleman that booked our room was so kind and friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel, only reason I gave 4 stars was because the bathroom radiator and fan wasn’t working properly. Other than that amazing customer service and the complimentary breakfast he had given us was amazing along with the room. Thank you!
I have been here many times on business in the past, but it appears there has been some sort of takeover or some major change. There are little cutbacks that I noticed, nothing really major or even noteworthy to some, however I believe the finishing touches is the difference in what makes a hotel stand out from others. I arrived early, so accepted that I would have to wait for check in, only to find there was an issue with their new system and couldn’t find my name, so this took a lot longer to resolve than I’d like, when it is was time to check in. It was nice to see my room was semi-clean when I got into my room. There was some rubbish left on the side in the bathroom, but never experienced this previously. Besides that, the rest of the room was clean and to a good standard. The bed was comfortable and had a good night sleep. I later decided to stay in the hotel for my evening meal, however this was a huge mistake. The hotel has always been relatively on the pricey side, however I never experienced problems with service or my meals. I had a lamb and rosemary pie, which was a new addition to the menu since my last visit. I was looking forward to the meal, as it had a great description to the meal that separated it from what else was listed. Unfortunately, I was disappointed after it had arrived, as the portion size was laughable. The pie turned out to be 2 mini pies, which going off the description, I would not expect. The taste of the pie, in fairness, was very good, but the pie was overcooked causing a very hard pastry shell. The broccoli wasn’t as described, as this wasn’t tenderstem broccoli. This was also undercooked, as the broccoli was almost rock solid, making it difficult to cut or chew. I made this clear to the staff after trying to eat most of it. I’m also one not to complain, unless I really have to. To be clear, I didn’t receive an apology from the staff, only that they would feedback to the chef. I wasn’t after anything other than an apology after such a poor dining experience. Would I stay here again? Yes, but would I eat here again? No. There are plenty of alternatives in the area, that I’m sure are far cheaper and give a better experience. Please note, I only got photos of the food and menu.
