Delta Hotels by Marriott Kunming

Not many choice by Marriott in Kunming and Delta Hotel being one of them. I am here during mid April with my family, as a night stay over before heading to another city. We reserved the superior family room in Marriott App, but unfortunately we were only arrived at 4a.m and our room was not reserved. But the reception did quickly help us to settle into the room. The room was spacious and modern, huge bathroom. The breakfast was pretty wide spread but would say 80% are catered to the locals. There is a shopping mall just next to it that have plenty of local eateries and a huge grocery shop at the lower group. The staffs were so caring and packed our breakfast as we had to rush for the train. Even though the location was slightly outskirt, we have no problem getting cabs (DiDi) to go around.

Although the location is relatively remote, the service is very good and the hotel is new. It is owned by the same owner as the Sheraton next door and can share facilities with the Sheraton. During this stay, things needed for work were placed in the room. I also bothered the hotel staff to come into the room to help bring the taxi to the work place. The service was very good and the housing price was very economical. It was cost-effective to use it to subsidize the cost of calling a taxi.

I was here during May for my vacation. Being a loyal Marriott brand member, I chose delta hotel as my accommodation during my stay here, despite the remote location. Sadly, it was the only Marriott brand here in this city. To make up for the remote location, the hotel showed hospitality during my stay here and the room was spacious and clean. One thing I felt could be improved on is the communication. When I first reached at around 5pm, I was told the room I reserved was not available and was given an option to change to another type of room (bigger room). However after staying for a day, I realised that they did not inform me about the price change due to the bigger room being more expensive. Although the amount wasn’t a lot but it did not make sense to me to charge me due to your room being not available and having said that I have a reservation. I decided to let it go since I have already stayed for the night and there wasn’t any other issue aside from this.
