Demeures & Châteaux Hôtel Greuze & Spa Tournus

Pleasant hotel on the main road to thru Tournus. Finding the entrance was tricky, as it is perpendicular to the main road and hard to see from the main road from a distance (lies on east side of road). Plenty of parking Excellent restaurants nearby and hotel offers breakfast and drinks. One side overlooks the >1000 year old abbey, great view out the window. Our room was a suite and plenty of space, comfortable beds and pillows. Elevator Only issue was the toilet is in a small closet to itself and very little space. Quiet, though note the bell in the abbey rings every 15 minutes to about 9pm. Pleasant desk and service Would happily return.

I spent just over a week at this hotel in Tournus. The purpose of my visit was to go cycling in the area, so my general appearance was not one that fitted easily into the luxury ambiance of the hotel. Nevertheless, I was made to feel thoroughly welcome, nothing was too much for the staff, who were chatty when time was available and always friendly. The room was of a good size, though a bit short of storage space. The bed was comfortable, or at least I can say I slept excellently in it. The sanitary facilities were of the standard one would expect of this class of hotel. I also appreciated the excellent breakfast on the terrace looking out towards the abbey. My other meals were at the Chapuis restaurants round the corner, which were excellent in many ways. I loved the place and look forward to going back, the sooner the better.

Tired, dusty and worn hotel between the highway and the river. Boring breakfast. Staff is inexperienced and management is outrageous. They sent a harsh sms asking us never to come agsin after receiving a flattering booking.com review. Don’t go there!
