Very nice hotel. Inside it is a beautyfull timeless style. And our room was very beautyfull with the best view you can wish for. Also our dogs where welcome. With a small present when we arrived for our dogs. The area goth the best walking around the Rursee. For sure we come back in the future.
Service simply appalling. Email communication ahead of our stay went smooth and friendly. Rooms/beds and location perfect. Our stay though (with grandma and our 2 teens) ended dissapointing due to the appalling service. Since weather had changed dramatically we decided to use the spa in stead of chilling on the terrace with lakeview. So I asked to delay our dinner reservation. The answer: we could make it 19h. Well I just payed €62 for spa entrance + bathrobes (latter turned out to be a fee, not deposit!) would you pls make it 19h30 then? The look on the face of the manager at the front desk :-0. At our table we were welcomed friendly. However when only 3 of the 5 ordered plates arrived (2 Schnitzel + 1 asparagus), no one told us the waiter had forgotten to order them completely! We were there just waiting on our table. Also we asked for mayonaise to our french fries, that did not arrive within 5min. So I walked to the bar and the other waiter then first wanted to go ahead and have another table pay in stead of running to fetch me the promised mayo. In this turmoil I sort I found out our main waiter had forgotten to order our 2 burgers completely! But they had not come to our table to inform us and appologize!! By the time even grandma had finished her plate the burgers did arrive. So much for a nice joint dinner! Again, no appology! When I told the waiter that an error is made everywhere, but the way dealing with it was substandard. His first words were: It was not my fault!! When I interrupted him to say so, he just ran of furiously. While we saw the front desk / manager standing ín the doorway to the kitchen, nevertheless he did not come to our table. So in the end no excuses were made. We paid (€165) Next morning on checking out with the same front desk / manager, no mentioning of it either nor a check if our stay had been sattisfactory!! Overall appalling. On top of that you find out you have to pay for exciting the parking lot!! We could not even find the ticketing machine and decided to reverse through the entrance. Luckily we decided before hand to enjoy an excellent (a la carte) breakfast in a lovely café in Heimbach - open on Sundays too! Spending €345 for duo & triple room / €65 on spa / €165 on main course dinner did not even make it a memorable stay. Well maybe in negative terms, it does stick to one. We did make a reservation by phone but they did not not write it down. We were with 5 restaurant was quite empty but it was not able to make some food for us.
