Such a fantastic hotel. The rooms are much more bigger. They are like apartments. The location is exact Center. The ferry to Spain is just behind. We loved everything in this hotel. Bad: Breakfast was below average. Nothing warm, all cold food especially breads. Swimming pool closed in summer 🤔
Location is the best. On the town c square, next to Bell Tower and a block from the river path for a beautiful stroll to the ocean. The hotel staff are accommodating and friendly. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning has a variety of offerings that will satisfy everyone.
The room overlooking the square was beautiful. The location cannot be beat. They were clean. They didn’t smell, but there were air fresheners in the hallway and in the room so that was probably helpful but unhelpful cause I had a headache the whole time however the staff were rude and unhelpful we showed up early, which is not their issue, but we just asked leave our bags which they said no problem. Check in after 2:30. We arrived at 3:30 and she said let me check to see if your room is ready. We were hoping to have some wine tastings in the restaurant and asked if there were reservations that we could make and she said we didn’t need them because there is no reservations on the book when we asked to see a menu she said wait until she turns the sign around out front and that’s the menu when we arrived at the restaurant at 7 o’clock when it opened the other lady asked us if we had a reservation and we said no and she looked like we were SOL when I stated that her colleague before said we don’t need a reservation. She seemed nonchalant. I will say that when we got seated in Junior, our waiter was the best part of the hotel he was super accommodating and knowledgeable, and always had a smile on his face. The whole time we were seated there for about two hours there were only about four tables who came into the restaurant and there was a very large seating capacity loved that that lady made us feel like we made a boo-boo by not reserving, I can see why the restaurant lost its Michelin star the food wasn’t remarkable and the service by the front desk. Staff certainly left a lot to be desired. Literally was afraid to ask the front desk staff for anything. The beds were a fraction more comfortable than other places in Portugal we did as for 2 beds and got 1 and experienced the flooding other customers noted from the shower.
