Good hotel with really strange policies. We spent 10 days at the hotel and there are good things and 2 really bad ones, among others. The hotel infrastructure is really good for the price you're paying and the staff is friendly and reactive. The rooms are spacious and in general the hotel is really clean. Beach access is great and calm, completely a place to relax at. Food is great, with a lot of fresh local dishes, a lot of international options and a great pasta cook, Nino, who made some of the best pastas I've ever tried. On the bad side - Access to drinking water: the tap water in Djerba is not for human consumption, but the bar offers a self service water fountain with miniature single use plastic cups. The water fountain has signs where is strictly prohibits refilling water bottles. In the room they give you only two water bottles on the first day, so without being able to refill, nights tend to get thirsty. The bar offers you the possibility to buy bottled water. - The bar service: with a very limited variety of alcohol and cocktails, the bar serves everything in miniature size cups. Additionally, after 10:00pm all alcoholic drinks have an extra cost. - The entertainment: first time I encounter a hotel with two independent entrainment teams, one Italian and another french, where the dynamic between them is simply weird. The Italian team barley interacts with non Italian speakers, while the French teams seems more open. All activities announcements are made on a person per person without using the sound system, so it's hard to keep track of when some activities will start. The night show is done 90% in Italian and starts quite late, with the mini disco (for kids) starting around 9:30pm-9:45pm followed by the adult shows, which starts with a daily 2 minute ad of Valtur, which is really annoying. Although the entertainment staff is really nice and great dancers it is hard to be involved in the activities, mostly if you're not an Italian speaker. - Towel policy: you need to bring your own beach/pool towel to the hotel, if not they will sell you a fouta towel for 5€. Another first time encounter in my life in a 4 star hotel - Paying restaurants: you can access two paying restaurants for 10€, but apart from having dinner at poolside, it's simply not worth it as the buffet offers almost the same food. Overall the hotel is quite good, you are paying a good price but the bad things are simply a deal breaker for us, hard to think we'll be back. Consider taking them into account before booking the hotel.
The hotel is nice. There isn’t much food, but it’s very tasty. Unfortunately, Italians are prioritized here. The mini disco and entertainment programs are mainly for Italians. They mostly speak Italian and not English. There are dirty dishes, and glasses with lipstick marks from other guests. By 9:40, there is hardly anything left to eat at breakfast. There is no proper snack bar, or very little food, and only by the pool. At the beach, there are just small pieces of pizza. The beach itself is beautiful.
We are so disappointed with our recent stay at Djerba Golf Resort & Spa. It is NOT a 4 star hotel. We stayed in room 288 ( family of 3) The place is no way near as clean as we expected. Let’s just do the dining hall. The back of the chair seats are full of food crumbs. Cutlery was still dirty. The blue water glasses were still sticky with finger marks on. I would go through 6/7 glasses to find one that looked bit cleaner. The salt & pepper shakers were the worst so sticky and grimy 🤮 (see pic) It made us think if this is what we see, what would be the state of the kitchen & food preparation area.
