I want to start by saying how amazing all the staff was. They were incredibly helpful in setting up taxis and restaurant reservations. They always greeted us with a smile and a kind word. I would recommend this hotel solely because of them and nothing else! In addition to a great staff, the hotel has a great location as well. It is an easily walkable distance to many tourist sights, restaurants, and bars. It is also close to public transport for venturing farther afield ( use PID app to avoid any ticket validation issues I have read other people had problems with). The room was spacious, clean and very serviceable. I don't expect opulence at a 3 star hotel. We actually spend very little time in a room when exploring a new city. I will say that I had no issues at all withe the quality of the room, and the cleaning staff was great. I would have no problems recommending this hotel to anyone.
I'm not sure how this place has garnered such high scores on Trip Advisor - perhaps it used to be nicer/better. The biggest selling point they have is the location - it is very well located in the old town (as long as you don't have a car in which case it's 10-15 mins of backtracking to get to a garage). I should have probably known to be suspicious given the price was significantly less than other places over easter weekend. Let's start with the good: - Location is great - Price was pretty good The not great/bad: - We never saw a soul at reception in the 3 nights we were there. They didn't send us check in instructions (they claim they did, I checked my Booking.com account inbox and there was nothing) so I had to track someone down via whatsapp - The rooms are really beaten up. I'll try to post some pictures here but they look nothing like their photos. All the furniture is in really poor shape, there was a picture on the wall where there obviously used to be a much bigger picture which they painted around which looked ridiculous. There was also this giant enclosure for the water heater in the bathroom with plastic caution tape all over it so you didn't whack your head sitting on the toilet. - One of our two rooms did not lock. Or at least not all the time. Instead of doing something about it, we went back and forth with someone on WhatsApp who basically accused us of not knowing how to lock a door. Only after sending them a video of what was happening did they believe us. - The "restaurant" seems to be abandoned - so any reviews you see about breakfast etc, assume that's no longer happening This isn't a boutique hotel - it's more like AirBnB rooms with an obviously absentee landlord who I think is based in Italy. Is it the worst place? No - it's fine. Does it fit the definition of boutique hotel? No.
Avoid this hotel at any cost!! I had a horrible experience with them as they plotted a story to scam me with 400 euros as "Room Damage Charges" for a scratch on the door, which was not even there when I checked in and they did it after I checked out of the hotel and called me back again to charge me for it. Not worth staying in a hotel where the owner and staff have zero integrity. Avoid and save yourself from the fraud!!
