My fiancée and I had the immense pleasure of staying at Quinta dos Machados, and I can genuinely say it was one of the most magical experiences we've ever had. Nestled in the heart of nature yet only a short drive from Lisbon, this charming boutique hotel offers the perfect blend of rustic serenity and refined elegance. From the moment we drove through the tree-lined entrance, we felt transported to a peaceful oasis. The grounds are beautifully preserved, with ancient stone buildings wrapped in ivy, shaded gardens, and the soft sound of birdsong echoing through the trees. There’s a sense of timelessness here, as if the Quinta has been waiting centuries just to welcome you. Our room was a harmonious blend of cozy comfort and tasteful decor — wooden beams, crisp white linens, and subtle accents that celebrated the history of the estate without feeling dated. We woke up to the golden morning light streaming in through the window, with views of the surrounding forest that made us feel like we were in a dream. But what truly made our stay unforgettable were the thoughtful details and warm hospitality. Every member of the staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay special. They offered wonderful recommendations, served delicious local wine with a smile, and even surprised us with a small dessert in honor of our engagement — a moment we’ll never forget. The spa was another highlight. Tucked away in what feels like a hidden grotto, it offered a tranquil experience that allowed us to fully disconnect. Between the sauna, steam room, and the soothing massage we enjoyed side-by-side, we left feeling completely renewed. Each breakfast was a delight — fresh fruits, regional pastries, warm bread, and homemade jams, all enjoyed on a terrace with panoramic views of the countryside. In the evenings, we strolled the lantern-lit paths and watched the stars come out in a silence so pure, it felt sacred. Quinta dos Machados is not just a hotel — it’s a place to slow down, reconnect with yourself and your loved ones, and embrace the beauty of simplicity. Service was amazing! Location was easy to find and convenient. Most importantly, the bed was comfy! The bakery was a perfect place for breakfast and my hubby had a croissant fresh from the oven. The room was on the small side but it was fine

We stayed here since we had a wedding nearby and the staff were really friendly throughout the hotel, greeting us all by name. We had some excellent coffee in the cafe, they were really knowledgeable and were able to tailor our hand brew coffee to our tastes and remembered what we liked as well! The staff managed to save my boyfriend in a fast and professional manner when he got himself stuck in the lift too! The chef in the bakery for breakfast and the chef in the restaurant cook amazing food. Can’t recommend enough. It’s in a really lovely location, with plenty of grounds to walk around and trails to explore. They also have a very friendly dog who followed us around on our walks, always a plus!
