We had a fantastic stay at Domaine de Rochebois. The setting is absolutely beautiful, quiet, green, and peaceful. If you have a car, the location is perfect for exploring the surrounding countryside, but even just staying on the property felt like a proper escape. Breakfast was a real highlight. Lots of choice, great quality, and everything tasted fresh. You could take your time and really enjoy it. The suite we stayed in was amazing. Really spacious, with a super comfy bed, great air con, and everything we needed. The large terrace overlooked the gardens, pool, and countryside. The view was just stunning. A real treat to wake up to every day! The pool area was one of our favourite spots. It was calm and quiet, never crowded, and had plenty of space to relax in the sun. We also spent time in the spa, which was a really nice experience. You book an hour each day, which actually worked well since it kept things peaceful and never too busy. We had a couples massage that was excellent and we loved the Nuxe products, both in the spa and stocked in the room. The staff were friendly & helpful, and made us feel really welcome from start to finish. All in all, a really relaxing and memorable stay. We’d definitely go back.
Beautiful building in amazing countryside next to the Dordogne River l. I was disappointed by the lack of maintenance and upkeep at the hotel and especially to the grounds. No one welcomed us on arrival/helped with bags The restaurant was overall disappointing especially as I had read a previous article about a chef there who has obviously now left. No staff available on arrival at the bar in the evening. The golf course has closed as has the restaurant The Wedge for which I had booked a table months ago and had received confirmation of the booking. I was not advised it was shut before arrival and therefore had limited time to find another restaurant. We found a better deal (over 100e) cheaper on a booking web site on arrival which was a surprise as most hotels guarantee the best rates via their own web site. The hotel obviously had standing in the past but has changed ownership and is in need of serious investment. It is certainly not a 5* hotel and does not serve its customers with that level of service that you would expect for this.
We were disappointed with the hotel when we both arrived and stayed. It did not live up to the expectations of a 4 star facility. Poor service on arrival and disinterested staff during our 3 day stay. Not worth the money.
