Domaine des Hautes Fagnes

Location and general The location is remote beautiful and peaceful. We booked a family room for myself and my 2 teenage sons for 2 days and the room was comfortable spacious and well equipped the size worked well for us. The staff was attentive and helpful and spoke French and English. Where to eat The food at the De Brasserie was good we waited for our food so be prepared to wait at least 30min, the cost is a bit on the expensive side once you include your drinks and wine. Again the staff is really friendly and helpful and all generally speak French as well as English which was very helpful. Our package included breakfast which was a nice buffet. You will be expected book your dinner and breakfast times lots on arrival or if booking online you can do so online as well. Wellness Center The wellness center was the highlight of our stay and the reason we booked this hotel. Our package included 3 hours of wellness and we were able to use all the wellness facilities. Note that the wellness center is exclusive for adults till 5pm no kids before 5pm. From 5pm till 8pm kids and teens up to 17years old can then use the facilities. You can however fill the day with walking trails and things to do in the area. The bath-set rental which includes a robe, slippers and a towel was €22 per set however you can bring your own which is what I will do next time. Overall we had a good experience and managed to relax and enjoy the environment. I recommend getting a package which can be tailored for your needs. We had 2 nights for 3 persons, including breakfast and 3 hours of wellness center use for €217 per night which in my book is good value for money.

Lovely environment. Staff is super nice. Spa is ok. Clean, not fancy. Dinner was really nice and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was generous but unfortunately there were many flies buzzing all around. Haven't seen any fly traps, or zap lights, not even a fan to chase them off the food. Rooms are small, no fridge, no AC (it's Belgium) but not even a fan. Actually, no ventilation at all. Stuffy, super hot, no screens on the windows turning the night into a mosquito festival. There was a bottle of water. Warm. Capped. But no bottle opener. Bed was ok, pillows were horrible. The bathroom was nice, large and clean. All in all not a bad experience, globally ok, but not a place I'd come back to.

The rooms and overall hotel is not bad, the food was ok but we had to wait for more than 30 minutes for our order to be taken and 1h 15 minutes for the first plate to be served with 2 relatively young kids. It was simple stake and vitello tonato - I found this pretty unacceptable
