Unique stunning boutique hotel. Service was exceptional, food was delicious and staff were very warm and friendly. Fantastic almost whimsical atmosphere! Owner, Thomas Peterson, was present and helped us with all our luggage and was so approachable with understated class! I was apprehensive at first entering hotel and then you start to find all the attention to phenomenal details and you leave hoping to go back again!

Visual opulence – but no service worthy of five stars We stayed at Dorsia Hotel on July 27th, 2025 – to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. The property is aesthetically spectacular, and the food was very good – but the service and attitude fell drastically short. Despite having personally arranged a table in the main dining room a week in advance, we were abruptly directed to the rooftop terrace upon arrival. Only after insisting (due to health reasons) were we allowed into a side room – beautiful, yes, but completely unprepared. No table setting, no welcome, no staff. We waited alone for over 20 minutes. Later, while still having dessert, the lights were turned off – and we sat in semi-darkness for over 45 minutes. The bill was handed to us without a word, and we had to use our phone’s flashlight to read it. No thank you, no farewell, no acknowledgment of the occasion – even though we had clearly informed the staff beforehand that this was our wedding anniversary. We sent a very polite, respectful letter to management. The reply was friendly in tone, but purely formulaic – with no gesture of apology or goodwill. For a property listed as part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, presenting itself as a five-star experience, this level of service is simply unacceptable. The gap between promise and reality is staggering.

The hotel is visually stunning. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. When we checked in, our room was extremely dusty, with large dust bunnies in the corners and on the furniture. I have a dust allergy, and this made the stay quite uncomfortable. We reported the issue to the front desk, and while the night staff was friendly and did their best, every room we were shown as an alternative had the same problem. Eventually, we were promised a properly cleaned room later that evening — but even that one had visible dust. At checkout, the staff downplayed the situation entirely. I followed up with the hotel after our stay, and now, 3.5 weeks later, I’ve still received no compensation — despite being promised it multiple times. To make matters worse, I’ve now been told that I was given a new room, which is simply not what happened. It took hours, multiple room changes, and personal effort from their staff just to get a room that was barely acceptable. There are many hotels in Gothenburg that offer both style and genuine hospitality. Dorsia, unfortunately, has shown neither. I cannot recommend it.
