I had a very pleasant stay at the DoubleTree in Buenos Aires. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the housekeepers were especially sweet—always smiling and welcoming. Breakfast was perfect, with plenty of helpful staff ready to serve. Just a HEADS UP: this property wasn’t originally a DoubleTree or Hilton, so the rooms aren’t quite what you’d expect from a typical DoubleTree. They’re a bit odd, but that’s due to the building’s original design, but the service more than makes up for it! Overall, a great experience thanks to the amazing team!
The rooms are really nice. They are spacious and clean. Mine had a king bed, TV with good programming, a spacious bathroom, a sofa, dinning table, desk, fridge, safe, and electronic kettle. I hate that the air conditioner is super loud so i end up turning it off even if it is at the low setting. Theres a light in my closet I cant seem to turn off and go electrocuted trying. The bathroom has the shower, bathtub and toilet separately which is unusual. The hotel is located at a great spot, but on weekends in the morning you see trash thrown around on the street and homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk and weird people following you. However, the hotel staff are this hotel’s saving grace. I would have checked out of this hotel had it not been for the extremely nice and accommodating staff. I call the front desk and not even 5 minutes later someone shows up with what I need. When I got to the hotel there was a really young bellhop that was so nice that i almost forgot i had been almost 24hrs in a plane. He explained everything about the hotel and the city. I have seen him a few times and he always smiles. The gym is in the -2 floor. Its comfortable not a lot of bells and whistles but good enough. There is a water jug in the gym to fill your bottles and fruits and lemonade in the lobby. I am accustomed to hotels in the US and Caribbean so i appreciate hotels offering complementary breakfast, water bottles, and having a washer and dryer for guests. You get two water bottles and a cookie when you check in and thats it! I am staying here for 4 weeks and they should have been more accommodating.. I was going to give it 2 stars but the employees convinced me to give it 3. UPDATE: the hotel management reached out to me to offer some discounts for amenities. I am amazed how promptly they responded and how amenable they were. They offered to fix the light in the closet and the air conditioner and apologized for the inconvenience. Like I said before, hotel staff is superb. I still have a few weeks to go so I will update at the end of my stay. UPDATE: They came to my room and fixed the closet and the air conditioner while I was out and cleaned my room. Great service. Glad I stayed. Will keep you updated.
Disappointing Stay at DoubleTree Buenos Aires (Formerly Meliá) I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Buenos Aires for two nights and, unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations for a Hilton-branded property. The room I was given had a dirty bathtub with visible stains and no accessible power outlets near the bed, which is quite inconvenient in this day and age. The room also felt outdated and in need of renovation. Initially, I was informed I’d been upgraded to a better room, which gave me a bit of hope. However, as I was waiting for the elevator, the manager came running to me to say that the upgraded room was actually under maintenance and that no other upgraded rooms were available. This was both awkward and disappointing. Breakfast was the same each day—very basic offerings like toast, bacon, ham, cheese, fruit, coffee, tea and yogurt. There was no egg station or hot food variety, which made the experience feel repetitive and uninspired. Overall, the hotel seems to be resting on its past reputation. It needs serious updates and better management of guest experience to align with the Hilton brand standards.
