We stayed at the Hilton this past weekend. Although many people report that it is dated, we found it to be a very nice hotel. The pool area is beautiful. Our room was sufficient for what we needed. However, I have to say the staff is awesome. We left something there and upon returning back home, in a different state, we called Hilton to let them know. Housekeeping had set it aside, they kept our item and brought it to the front desk. While all of the employees were exceptional in helping us, Jessica was the one that ultimately got a hold of our item for us. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Parking was a little tight because there was another event going on, but that wasn’t a big deal. Thank you for a great stay.
My husband and I stayed here for the Billy Strings concert (4/15). It was 15 minutes from the venue and was very affordable. I’m a Hilton Gold Member so we received complimentary breakfast, and a $15 food/beverage credit each to charge to the room. They have a cute little market with snacks, drinks, and alcohol so that’s what we used our credit towards. In terms of our room we stayed in 923. The room was big and airy, with lots of windows (so natural light to do my make up). I was disappointed though that our room wasn’t stocked with basic necessities such as, toilet paper and tissues. We had zero toilet paper when we checked in and I had to wait about an hour for the front desk staff to bring it up. The shower also wasn’t very clean (I’ll attach pictures). We only stayed for one night so we didn’t care because we didn’t need to utilize the shower. Their pool was adorable and they also had a mini gym. We would probably stay here again for a concert but definitely not a trip for a few days.
As a travel agent I have stayed in multiple places before this one was definitely the worst experience I have ever had. To begin, at checkin they had an attitude. This was a 30+ day booking for a business trip but there was one weekend where they didn't want to accomodate the client, but he ended up in the hospital and I called the hotel to keep his items in the room until he returned. They wouldn't accomodate and said they would throw his stuff in the housekeeping office (which was a concern for items getting stollen) but they didn't care. Luckily he got back an hour before checkin so he could get his stuff. Second, I contacted the hotel on a seperate occassion because of a concern for safety of the individual and they would not assist or even go check on the guest/give a call up to the room. There was a roach in one of the rooms too.The staff is ignorant, rude, and not helpful in any manner. When combining the hotel reservations they were unhelpful and made matters worse with their rude responses and constant back and forth banter. In addition, the room was constantly dirty, housekeeping did a terrible job keeping up with simple tasks for one person of making the bed and replacing towels. What a terrible experience! If you have a choice of staying somewhere else in Charlottesville please do! Also, why does this hotel not have laundry on site? There are a lot of things that need to be fixed. Management needs to be swapped out and retrained. This includes the manager who had an attitude when just answering the phone and representatives who need more training on how to approach customers, deal with emergencies, and fixing reservations. I sure hope this review is handled with care with Hilton, as I will be forwarding this review to my travel agent network to not stay here.
