DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Decatur Riverfront

We had a quick overnight stay on our way to Destin. I was worried because of mixed reviews on this property, but I was so pleased with our stay! The bed was so comfortable! The room was large enough to accommodate our group of six, the pool was lovely and our kids had a blast! Yes, there are parts of the building that seem a little worn or dated, but that didn’t bother us as everything was comfortable and clean. I should mention that I’m a Hilton diamond member and travel quite a bit and I would come back here!

I came to Decatur for a conference and the Double Tree was the hotel the organizers had arranged for a room block. It worked out very nicely. My room had a couple of maintenance issues but they were very minor. The conditioner bottle holder had come loose from the shower wall and there was only one side of the curtains that had the white privacy curtain (room 515). The breakfast buffet was quite good and covered by the $15 Hilton Honors credit if you have that benefit with your membership. Even if not it’s well worth the price which includes tax. With online check in and keyless access to my room, interactions with staff were minimal but warm and friendly when they occurred. Likewise the woman taking care of the breakfast was friendly and attentive making sure everyone had what they needed. They didn’t have decaf set up in the coffee dispensers, so she had some prepared for me specially. I wouldn’t call this a luxury property by any means but I was very pleased with my stay and it fit the bill perfectly.

The hotel needs a ton of updates and renovations. My sister had a Cockroach in her room. The family King Suite bathroom was tiny. The staff was truly helpful and kind. They are the positive to this hotel.
