We had a wonderful stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Galveston Beach! The location couldn’t be better, right across from the beach, making it so easy to enjoy the ocean anytime we wanted. The pool was fantastic, perfect for relaxing after a day in the sun. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from check-in to check-out, making us feel right at home. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Galveston!
Great little hotel. Every room has a view/balcony. Double queen room. Bit tight, but functional. Few things need fixing, replacement and updating. But a very nice stay. The breakfast, buffet. Way overpriced. I'd rather pay a extra $10-20 a night and have breakfast included. Especially since limited breakfast option around. Denny's burned down. IHOP too expensive, busy and too far. But a good stay. Beds comfortable.
This hotel's price point and proximity to the pier were the main draws for our stay, and knowing it was a budget option, we came in with realistic expectations. The 'Hotel Refresh' is partially accurate – the restaurant is definitely modern and clean, offering decent (though somewhat pricey) food and good poolside drinks. The staff were consistently kind and helpful, which was a definite plus. However, the hotel's age is apparent. The rooms show wear and tear, with issues like old, worn carpets, mold in the showers, a lingering smoke smell, and very firm mattresses. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't it. The pool area was a highlight. We enjoyed having it mostly to ourselves on a weekday, and the convenience of the poolside bar/restaurant was great. Towels were readily available, which was appreciated. Overall, our stay was adequate for the price. If you need a place to crash for a night or two and prioritize location and affordability, this could work. Just be prepared for some dated facilities. The friendly staff and decent pool area made it an acceptable experience for a short getaway. 3 stars.
