DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Johnson City

This Hilton property is marvelous! The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We had a minor problem and it was resolved quickly with a smile. The cookies are scrumptious and the coffee is hot. Always had plenty of towels and other supplies in our room. Close to attractions we want to visit. Just a wonderful place to recharge.

Do NOT recommend staying here. We traveled from KS to NC and as Hilton Gold members, chose to stay at only Hilton hotels on our journey. The staff are friendly and the beds are comfy but that’s about where the positives end. The room has a stale smoke smell to it which is very upsetting considering the amount of money we paid to stay here. The TV struggles to switch channels and has no options for little ones. We ended up having to use the tablet for wind down time instead of family movie night. After arriving at the hotel and being disappointed with the smell, we decided to go check out the pool with our 2 year old. The pool was not only very cold but also VERY dirty. It was hard to get a good picture but there was so much stuff both settled at the bottom and floating on top. I got a picture of the indoor area but the outdoor was so much worse. The railing to get in and out of the pool was loose and moved if you leaned on it at all. Lastly, we had to use the bathroom as we walked through the lobby and not a single working bathroom is available other than in our room. The bathrooms by the pool were “out of service/clogged”. The hotel goes beyond just being dated and borders unhygienic. So incredibly disappointed.

I want say first The staff there was very welcoming Very nice. I had booked a two night stay because my daughter had a ballgame. Which the night before had a bad storm which called off the game the next day. The ONLY problem that I had was there was roaches in my room. And another thing too too. Since my room was a prepaid I had asked to get a refund for one of the nights. Which we had left to take a chance to get it my money back but I had to wait a week to find out they couldn't give it to me. I'll not be staying there again.
