DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Lawrence

Giving a 5 star just simply for customer service!!! Also the rooms were nice, bathrooms great sizes, and all clean, no complaints!!! Customer service though, 5/5! My son traveled with his coach to the area and we needed to arrive later. We arrived at the hotel and checked in and quickly realized we needed to leave due to my son being injured in his event he was playing in. The staff on site realized we were there no more than 10 minutes and were so accommodating to our needs to check out quickly. I was told I could contact a manager Monday about a refund or other options available. Super helpful considering we had a 2 hour drive and a hospital trip with a kiddo in pain. By 8:15AM Monday the manager had already called me to assist me in getting something worked out. Unfortunately my son is out for the season and we wont be traveling for a while so she was able to just completely accommodate a full refund. Thank you for making a stressful time so much easier! We will definitely go back if we are ever in the area!

Don’t be misled by positive reviews like we were! It was such a big mistake trying to stay here when there are MUCH nicer hotels in the area at a similar price point. Similar to someone who just left a review earlier today, we were completely shocked by the rancid, moldy odors in our rooms. We tried a second room after we noticed it in the first one, but the second was worse. There is very clearly water damage in much of the building, and we even saw black mold growing in multiple locations! So alarming that Hilton hasn’t done more to update the place. It needs to undergo a massive renovation. Additional stars for service are there because the person working the front desk was very accommodating.

We are from the area and booked a room for a "staycation" because we had fond memories of the indoor pool area from years ago. We ended up leaving and not staying the night. Our room was on the 4th floor and the hallway was visibly dirty and didnt seem like it had been vacuumed in ages. Our room was damp to the point that the carpet and linens felt wet to the touch and had a very strong, almost unbearable musty odor. We also noticed that the breakfast buffet was $20 a person, which is ridiculous when comparing to other properties at the same price point in Lawrence. There was a youth sports team staying at the property who were extremely disruptive and made the pool area virtually unusable to other guests, and this was kind of the "final straw" that made us decide to leave and go back home. While this location is very convenient, there are many more hotels in Lawrence at the same price point in much better condition (and with complimentary breakfast).
