DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport & Convention Center

Our flight was delayed 3 hours. The hotel shuttle was to run to midnight; stopped service at 10:30. Had to take a cab ($35). Then no complimentary breakfast because "the system was down". The shuttle to the cruise ports is $15 per person. The ONLY saving grace to this disaster was Edwin, Ricardo & Gloria at the bar. Able to get food & drinks after normal hours. They were the ONLY blessing. And, for them, we were beyond grateful.

Man this was mixed bag of a hotel. Well first off, we were able to check in pretty quickly. We're going to be there for 3 days and 2 nights. We also had to pay for parking at their site for our stay (gonna be important later). When we got in the room on the 10th floor, it was an absolute mess. Bed was dirty, there were empty dirty drinks left on the stands, towels were left on the ground and the peephole was covered. We were disgusted & weirded out by what we saw and immediately went back down to the front desk and asked for a change of rooms asap. They were able to give us a new room on the same floor. There was something off about the room. We noticed that there were no refrigerator to put our drinks & food and no microwave for us to use. What we see was that there was only one microwave too use down in the main floor. Really? Only one? I'll say that the room we got in the end was better than the last. The next day, we left the hotel for about an hour to go get breakfast (because $35 for the buffet per person was way too expensive). When we got back, we found out that we couldn't park at the designated area, THAT WE PAID FOR, because they let the non-hotel guests to park there and had to pay for VALET PARKING! So I not only paid $38 for parking for our stay here but also another $31 for valet parking. That's just messed up. So later on in the evening I had to go pick up my car from valet parking to go back to parking in the designated hotel guest area when some of the people left. On the final day, we were getting ready in our room when housekeeping just came into our room without knocking. Like wtf?! I'm not really sure if I should recommend this place to people. Just too much bad things happened over the past 3 days.

My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing from beginning to end. Upon arrival, I was not informed that parking would be an additional $18 per night something that should be communicated upfront. I was given food vouchers but later told they were invalid by rude hotel staff who didn’t ask for clarification or who gave them to me. Instead, they were accusatory and acted as if I had obtained them dishonestly, which was both embarrassing and unprofessional. The room itself was in poor condition. The hot water took about 15 minutes to become bearable, and once it did, it quickly became scalding hot making a comfortable shower nearly impossible. The room felt damp and musty, as if the AC wasn’t functioning properly. It was far from clean, and though I was “upgraded” to a room with a balcony, the balcony was just a bare slab of concrete with no chairs or furniture. The lack of basic amenities like a microwave or refrigerator in the room was another letdown. The only microwave available in the entire hotel was on the first floor, which is incredibly inconvenient. To top it off, my experience with the front desk staff after my stay was appalling. When I called about a deposit issue, the first representative was kind but unable to assist. She told me to call back at 4 PM to speak with someone named Nicholas. When I did, I overheard staff laughing and mocking my request in the background before someone finally answered and provided no help whatsoever. The staff came off as untrained and unprofessional. Overall, my stay was awful. I would absolutely not recommend this location to anyone. Don’t be misled by the name believe the negative reviews and choose a different hotel. I truly regret booking here.
