We recently stayed at the DoubleTree in Rocky Mount, NC, and had a mixed experience. The standout positives were definitely the friendly, attentive staff—both at the hotel and the adjoining Texas Steakhouse. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and helpful, which made a big difference in our stay. Our room was clean and had excellent air conditioning, which was a relief, especially since the hallways were noticeably warm due to the AC being down. The beds were super comfortable, and we got a great night’s sleep. That said, the property is showing signs of age and could really use some updating. One of the two elevators was out of service, and the pool was closed, which was disappointing. As for the restaurant, while convenient, the food was mediocre at best. Overall, the hotel has potential, and the staff truly elevates the experience—but a few repairs and some refreshing would go a long way in bringing it up to the standard you expect from a DoubleTree.
I spent 3 nights here and I honestly should have checked out and rebooked another hotel. The hotel deserves a deep cleaning. Great location, great staff but dirty facility. Lamps were rusted, carpet stained throughout and noticeable stains in the furniture in the rooms and lobby. Just because it’s in the small town of Rocky Mount does not mean it has to be unclean. Shame on me for staying. I’ve frequent this location for at least 15 years. I remember the good times. I can’t possibly stay here again. Wished I took more pictures but here’s the hair in the sink and the closet where it’s not been vacuumed in a long time
We were very disappointed with this hotel. It's extremely run down and dirty. The rooms clearly need an update. The first room we had smelled extremely bad of urine. The second room had a slightly better smell, but the toilet almost overflowed on the first use. The maintenance man was very nice and fixed the problem but the toilet continued to flush very slowly. The toilet was in front of sink and left very little room in the bathroom. The room was dirty and I saw hair in the bathroom that was not ours. The couch and the chairs were all stained, and there were nicks all over the walls and the furniture. We were in a suite, but there were no supplies in the kitchen area, not even a plate or fork. We've stayed in hundreds of hotels up and down the east coast, and this was definitely the worst one I've ever stayed in. The price wasn't cheap either for such a run down property. Honestly, we expected more from the Hilton and Doubletree chains.
