We recently hosted our Mental Health Tea Party at the DoubleTree, and it was an absolute success! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The event space was elegant, the staff was friendly and professional, and every detail was executed flawlessly. A heartfelt thank you to Event Manager Sonjia Moore, whose guidance and attention to detail made the planning process smooth and stress-free. We welcomed over 210 guests, and everyone was thoroughly impressed with the brunch meal, which was both beautifully presented and delicious. From the fresh fruit and fluffy eggs to the chicken and waffles and savory grits, the food exceeded expectations and added a special touch to the overall experience. And we can’t forget to mention the DoubleTree’s signature cookies; they were an absolute hit with our guests and a sweet way to end the event! Thank you to the entire DoubleTree team for helping us create a warm, welcoming atmosphere to support a powerful conversation around mental health. We highly recommend this venue for any personal, professional, social, or community-focused event.
**Pros:** The hotel is located in the city's heart. If you arrive in the evening, as we did, you can often find free street parking (meters only require payment between 6 PM and 8 AM). Additionally, the hotel features a small market and a restaurant. The staff was friendly once we were inside the hotel. A thoughtful and efficient gentleman helped us at check-in, who I believe was the Night Auditor. **Cons:** The decor is quirky, worn, and outdated. The lobby, hallways, rooms, and pool area all need updates. Another downside was the phone communication. I tried to call the hotel the afternoon before my stay to ask questions and inform the staff of my late arrival, but it took me 40 minutes of calling intermittently before someone answered. Another day, I repeatedly called the lobby from my room to inquire about the pool and faced the same issue. My family concluded that it is difficult to get someone to answer calls in the afternoons at this hotel. Overall, there were more positives than negatives, primarily due to the perfect location.
It is really a shame! Have stayed in this hotel probably 10 times before. Great location. Hotel needs some TLC but has great bones. Valet is amazing. Pricey but amazing. What brings down this hotel is the service. Front desk staff is aweful. Housekeeping is non existent, in fact you need to request it but front desk does not tell you that. Multiple ice machines not working. Coffee shop closed all three mornings we were there due to"maintenance" however none being performed. More like a staffing problem. Bar was out of many liquors. One of the busiest weekends and they were not prepared. Seems like a management issue. Will stay at the Marriott next time.
